Why would I want to do this?

Many students do not use their Algonquin email very often, since they have their own email accounts with their own Internet Service Providers, or since they use web mail accounts such as hotmail.

But, the College will only send email to your official Algonquin email address or to the address you have set in ACSIS, so if you are one of the many people who use another email address, it is essential that you set your Algonquin email  to the email address that you actually use.

Considerations:

• Many teachers will only accept email and assignments from Algonquin email addresses and will respond only to that address
• Official information about your Blackboard account will be sent to your Algonquin address or to the preferred address you have set in ACSIS
• Official information from the Registrar's Office will be sent to your Algonquin address or to your the preferred address you have set in ACSIS.
• If you are in a mobile computing program, information about your laptop will be sent to your Algonquin address or to the preferred address you have set in ACSIS.
• Many web-mail providers do not accept attachments. If your teacher is intending to send you materials as attachments, it is your responsibility to ensure that you can receive them.
