Make Sure Your Students see their marks

Students may not be seeing the same view as you are in the Gradebook.

A student called us to report that when she looked at the Blackboard gradebook for one of her courses, one entry was missing and the total was on a lower mark than her teacher had said would be the total.

We looked at the Gradebook from both the teacher and the student views and sure enough, they were different.

The problem was that one of the Gradebook entries was set as "not visible", although it was not obvious to the teacher.

To check to see if you have any entries set as "not visible", go to the course, Control Panel, Online Gradebook, Spreadsheet View and at the top of the page you'll see "Modify Item".

Click on that button and if any items are italicized, then they are "not visible". You only need to select the item you wish to "Modify", click "Submit", then make it visible from the next screen.
