Icons
against student names in the class list:
Blackboard takes the position that the teacher
should know that people were in your
class, even if they are no longer there now.
In your class list, you may see these two symbols:
and
.
This icon means that the
student has been set to "unavailable" by the system. This means that the student
was in your class at one point, but is no longer (his/her name was not on the
most recent update from the Registrar's Office. Implications of this:
For the teacher:
- a record of the marks is kept, therefore
still on the class list
- but the student is no longer registered in
the class, therefore is not on mailing list.
For the student marked with this icon, the
course no longer appears in the student's profile on logging in to Blackboard.
This mark indicates a
user who was on the system last semester but who has no registrations in the
current semester. These students must have had 01F courses and now are not
registered for any courses in 02W. Implications of this:
For the teacher:
- this student is not in your class. You
may see this mark if you are looking at 01F courses.
For the student this icon means that the
student can not log in to Blackboard for the student has no current
registrations.
Saving
your Class List as a Comma-Separated Values (.csv) File
You can export your class list as a
comma-separated values file which you can then open with Excel, Quattro, etc.
To do this, open your Blackboard course and go
to Control Panel --> Online Gradebook, and use Export
Gradebook and follow the Instructions displayed to download your file.

For this to work, there must be at
least one assignment in your Gradebook. If you have not created an
assignment, go into Spreadsheet View and use Add Gradebook Item
to create an assignment. In this example, the assignment has "0" point
value.
