A2 – Access Lab Project 2
Important Note: This,
like all Access Labs, is an individual assignment.
The College values honesty as a key principle in the College environment and in
the workplace. Academic work submitted by a student is evaluated on the
assumption that the work presented by the student is his or her own, unless
designated otherwise. The College
considers Plagiarism, (presenting someone else’s work, in whole or in part, as
your own), and the facilitation of plagiarism, (one student sharing work with
other students), to be unacceptable and will impose sanctions, which may be - a
requirement that the student complete a course on academic integrity, a
requirement that the student submit additional work, a grade of zero for the
assignment, a grade of F for the course or suspension from the College. A

If you have trouble with any part of this Lab, be sure to post questions in the Discussion Board, or click ‘Staff Info’ to see how to get help from your Prof. Submitting the assignment with a note that says, ‘I couldn’t do this properly’ will disappoint both you and your Prof! He wants to help!
First, in the
next lab, you will need Web space on
the college server. This takes up to a week, so you need to do it now. Note
that if you have web space elsewhere to which you can upload your portfolio,
you are welcome to use it. To request space, do the following on college computers (this will not work
from home!) - On the web go to academic.algonquincollege.com. Click ‘Sign up for a web account’.
Sign in - use your username and password. Fill out and submit form. You
will receive a confirmation by email message. Information from this e-mail will
be submitted with this lab.
Next, work through the text Project 4, and do the Skill Drills at the end of the Project. This is essential to your learning the more advanced Access skills in this chapter before you attempt the Lab you are to submit for marking.
Now, do all steps of Challenge Exercise 1 on p 173 exactly as per the text, except that at step 4, instead of the City being set to ‘Willow Grove’ you should set it to ‘XXXXville’ where XXXX is your last name (eg your prof would use ‘Smithville’ as the city name).
Next, do steps 1, 2, 3 and 6 of Challenge Exercise 2 on p 174 exactly as per the text, except that at step 3, add your name to the end of the ‘appropriate validation text’.
When your work is complete, submit your work like this:
- logon to your own section of MGT2338 on Bb (not the combined section site)
- click the Assignments button

View/Complete Assignment: A2
- in the ‘comments’ box, copy and paste the content of the e-mail confirming your web space on the college server (or enter the URL of an alternate web space you plan to use).

click the Browse button, and upload the Access
database (Fort_Fun_Summer) - note that
the database must be closed before uploading.

click Submit

Note: Although the above is the only ‘hand-in’ required for Project 4, it is still important to work through all the steps in the projects, and all the Skill Drills at the end of each Project. Test questions will not be limited to the ‘hand-ins’!
