A very useful directory of all pertinent social services in the Ottawa area
Attachment Disorder - There is a useful
download on this site in reference to Niels Peter Rygaard's presentation on Severe
Attachment Disorder.
Bartimaeus Inc. This organization, "is
dedicated to providing the highest quality Child an Youth Workers to children, adolescents
and their families throughout our service areas." Great resources and information.
National Resource Center for Youth Services (NRCYS) -
- This site is an American resource for education and child and youth information.
They had a couple of different presentations at the ICYC Conference one on
spirtuality and the other on "Developing the Culture of Care." (I have a few
handouts of you are interested).

site dedicated to parents (can used by CYWs for academic programs) to encourage/assist children with
school/learning.
Aspergers Society of Ontario. Great site for
those working with children and youth with this disorder. Includes facts, research,

Family Resources website. This
website encompases many facets of the family. It addresses a wide spectrum of topics

current and updated, and provides information for both individuals and organizations.
Gives templates for policies and procedures, in regards to topics such as health and
safety. This site also fosters information on coping with disaster and how to help child
victims.

Alberta:
Justice for Youth is an online
resource for youth by youth from Calgary. It is a great resource for youth and for CYWs.
It provides youth with a chance to be heard and also gives good information and

Youth Advocate Program International is a
non-profit organization originating from Washington, D.C.This agency "promotes and
protects the rights and well-being of the worlds youth, giving particular attention
to children victimized by conflict, exploitation, and state and personal violence."

KidsPeace is a U.S. non-profit organization
that assists children and youth in crisis within residential, community, juvenile justice
and other areas. There are also job postings for available work in the U.S.

The Nations Network of Child Care
Resources and Referral is a site that has a wide range of resources that would be
useful to a CYW. Also includes a section that covers career paths available across the United States
from Pearl River, NY to San Francisco.
The Child Care Bureau is dedicated
to enhancing the quality, affordability, and availability of childcare for all families.
The Child Care Bureau administers federal funds to states, territories, and tribes to
assist low-income families in accessing quality childcare for children when the parents
work or participate in education or training.
Child Protect is the Montgomery Alabama Area
Children's Advocacy Centre and is the only agency that provides investigative services
of children suspected to be victims of child abuse. Child Protect provides a
child-friendly environment where children can talk about sexual and
physical abuse. The agency also
provides support for children that have to testify in court. Child Protect also works to
coordinate investigations with the Department of Human Resources, law enforcement, medical
doctors and the District Attorney's Office. The agency provides counselling for children
at the request of these agencies.
American Indian Child Resource Centre is a
non-profit social service and education agency serving American Indian children and their
families. Governed by a voluntary Board of Directors with Native members who are sensitive
to the issues facing Indian families, AICRC has thrived for over 27 years in Oakland with
services in ten counties of the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
