ASSIGNMENT #2 - UNIT TEST

1.  Rationale

We have completed the college-level portion of the course.  The material we have studied will is the minimum you will need to know to be successful in the rest of the course.

Before we begin to apply this material at a university level, you need to review and demonstrate that you understand it thoroughly.

2.  Content

The test will cover Chapters 5, 6 and 7 of the text and will include

• Memoranda and Business Letters

• Direct and Indirect Strategies

• Informational vs. Analytical writing

• Routine vs. Non-Routine correspondence

3.  Format

There will be three sections to the unit test as follows:

• multiple choice questions

• two (2) pieces of writing

4.  Support Materials

You may create and use two (2) cheat sheets, but they must be approved and contain only the following information:

• cheat sheet for letters (Chapter 6)

• cheat sheet for the indirect strategy (Chapter 7)
