CONVERSATION
Here's a paraphrasing of a conversation I overheard recently between two of my students. Notice the verb(s) . . .
| HIM: | What did we do in English yesterday? |
| HER: | We did memos. |
| HIM: | Memos? |
| HER: | Yeah. |
| HIM: | At least it’s better than high school. In high school, all we did was poetry and stuff. |
| HER: | Yeah, really. All we did was Shakespeare! |
| (Pause) | |
| HIM: | What are we doing in English today? |
| HER: | He said we’re doing a quiz. |
| HIM: | A quiz?!! On what? |
| HER: | Memos. |
| HIM: | Drag. |
Now, we all do it, but wouldn't it be better to use more precise verbs? If you think so too, click here of 240 useful verbs that are more precise than "do and "did."
