COMMA SPLICES & RUN-ON SENTENCES

Understanding (and avoiding!) comma splices or run-on sentences is dead easy (if you can distinguish main clauses, subordinate clause and phrases, that is).  The first thing to note is this:

 

Comma splices  and run-on sentences and are bad!

They are considered major grammatical errors!

 

 

 

ERROR EXAMPLE
C/S I will eat chicken curry, I like it a lot. .
R/O I will eat chicken curry I like it a lot. .
C/S You are my favorite class, I can't wait to see you again.
R/O You are my favorite class I can't wait to see you again.
