FORMAL SPEECH

The speeches are held during the second half of the course (after the term exam).

Each speech is a 10-15 minute (TBA), structured performance piece that is reviewed, graded, and ranked by the entire class using detailed marking sheets.  You may choose your own topic, and we will discuss  topic ideas in class.

• Download and print twenty (20) copies of the Speech Grading Sheet (which is available by clicking on "Course Documents").
• Keep detailed notes on each speech, so you can remember them all well.  At the end of the course, you will be asked to rank the speeches using the Ranking Sheet (which is available by clicking on "Course Documents").

The entire first half of the course is dedicated to showing you how to do a world-class, formal speech. It's one of the most exciting parts of the Speaking course, so enjoy!
