MODULE DESCRIPTION

Module 3, Learning Styles for Business, examines various theories and models of learning. In this 15-hour module, students will use on-line resource materials to study learning styles theory, test and understand their own learning style preferences, understand how the concepts can be applied in a business context, and complete an analytical and creative project.

Students have the opportunity to apply the concepts in the world of advertising.

The completion time for the module is six weeks.

Learning Outcome #1 - Communicate clearly, concisely and correctly in the written, spoken and visual form that fulfills the purpose and meets the needs of audiences.

Learning Outcome #4 - Use a variety of computer hardware and software and other technological tools appropriate and necessary to the performance of tasks.

Learning Outcome #7 - Collect, analyze and organize relevant and necessary information from a variety of sources.

When you have earned credit for this module you will have demonstrated an ability to:

  • conduct on-line and other research to learn various learning styles theories and/or models
  • test oneself to determine learning styles preference(s)
  • understand oneself as a learner

  • create an advertisement that reflects accepted learning styles theories
  • use technology with skill and confidence
  • communicate effectively with different learners
  • exercise creative and analytical abilities

The following will provide evidence of your learning achievement:

Progress Email Memorandum Assignment

Analytical Assignment research and produce a short report explaining at least three accepted learning styles theories. The report will require the student the organize information from a variety of sources, report using visual, numerical, and narrative data, and write at the college level.

Creative Assignment design and produce an advertisement that implements an accepted a learning styles theory to communicate effectively with people with a variety of different learning preferences.
