Frequently-Asked Questions

Please answer my question on this page

What is my network username?

You network username is the combination of letters and numbers that you fill in to log-in to the network (i.e. ANYS0001).  With your network password, your network username allows you to log in to the College network

If you are a student, your network username is created when you register, and it may take up to 48 hours for the account to become active so you can use it.

If you are a staff member, your administrator must complete a "Network Access Form" and send it to Information Technology Services for you to have an account on the network.

How do I receive my network username?

Students must go to ACSIS (Algonquin College Student Information System) at http://acsis.algonquincollege.com and use their student number and date of birth (in the format required) to discover their username and password.

Faculty will receive a letter from Information Technology Services including this information.

What is my network password?

Your network password is assigned initially by Information Technology Services.

If you are a student, your password is your PIN.

If you are a staff member, your password is included in the letter you have received from Information Technology Services.

Can I change my network password?

Yes.  You can change your password by using Start --> Settings --> Passwords in Windows.

How do I set up my email?

Follow the instructions on the ITS web site.

wpe1.jpg (1288 bytes)

What is my email address?

Your email is your Algonquin username followed by @algonquincollege.com (for example, anys001@algonquincollege.com )

wpe1.jpg (1288 bytes)

Can I use another email address?

The College will only send email to your official Algonquin email address.

Considerations:

  • According to the course outline directive, students are responsible to read their algonquin email on a regular basis.
  • Many teachers will only accept email and assignments from Algonquin email addresses and will respond only to that address
  • Official information about your Blackboard account will be sent to your Algonquin address
  • Official information from the Registrar's Office will be sent to your Algonquin address.
  • If you are in a mobile computing program, information about your laptop will be sent to your Algonquin address.
  • Many web-mail providers do not accept attachments. If your teacher is intending to send you materials as attachments, it is your responsibility to ensure that you can receive them.

How can I forward my Algonquin email to another address?

You may set your Algonquin email to forward to another account on the internet.  This may be useful if you wish to use your regular email address. We recommend that you not forward your Algonquin email to a hotmail or yahoo account. You have very limited storage space on hotmail or yahoo accounts -- your email will quickly get blocked if you forward all your Algonquin email to a hotmail account.

To do this,

  • go to the Information Technology Services email forwarding service at http://www.algonquincollege.com/email
  • login using your Algonquin username (i.e. STU003) and your network password (your PIN number unless you have changed it)
  • follow the directions there to forward your email to another address on the Internet.
